It's Time to Get Involved with KOVAR Collections
[Article originally printed in the April 2007 Knight Life]
Each year the Knights of Columbus collects donations to support those persons with special needs. The KOVAR (Knights of Virginia, Assistance for the Mentally Retarded) drive this year will be April 12 through April 15 (Thursday through Sunday). As in past years we will be collecting donations at local stores. We will be needing volunteers to stand near the entrances and accept donations. This is a very important part of being a good Knight, and as you should remember from your First Degree, charity is our first charge.
We have a lot of members and the more volunteers we get the less amount of time and work for each is needed. This can also be a great opportunity for those that have children to spend some quality time together and earn some community service time that they will need for their school credits. If you can help collect at a location or maybe help organize the people for a location please contact Art Gamotis P.G.K.
Even if you can not find the time to help collect you can still help with this very important charity. Please find it in your heart to donate any amount that you can for those special needs people. You can send a donation to the Council office, attention KOVAR; or drop a donation in the KOVAR jug in the Council Home. Please get involved with this year's KOVAR drive -- remember, every little bit helps. We can make a difference
Sincerely,
Art Gamotis P.G.K.
